Maintenance of laboratory pressure control systems FP 301-305
General
- System components usually do not require maintenance.
- There is a separate maintenance manual for the fume cupboard control system possibly connected to the system.
- Disturbances of the motor dampers that adjust the pressure ratio manifest themselves as abnormal running noises or incorrect pressure ratios in the room. First check the operation of fans and fire dampers. If the problem persists, contact us.
- The system includes a separate pressure control sensor, it is automatically reset and does not require maintenance. If the pressure control system still does not work, also visually check the closing of the doors, the operation of the door switches and the tightness of the room.
System operation checks
It is a good idea to check the operation of the system periodically. The inspection schedule is decided on a laboratory-by-laboratory basis. Annual inspections are usually sufficient. However, the system should always be tested and, if necessary, adjusted after ventilation changes made to the laboratory.
The inspection measurement is usually carried out together with the inspection of the fume cupboard. During the inspections, the necessary adjustments are also made.
Recycling
Elker Oy takes care of the recycling of decommissioned components in accordance with regulations.
Operation of PIM Light panel
- Overpressure indicates that the key switch has been selected as operating mode for room overpressure with respect to the reference, e.g. corridor. In this case, the room functions as a clean room (e.g. burn patients)
- The alarm light indicates that the room is open or that the desired pressure in the room is not reached, e.g. due to an open window or malfunctions of the air conditioners. The insulation level of the room has weakened. If the cause of the fault cannot be determined, report it to the service person.
- Negative pressure indicates that negative pressure relative to the reference, e.g. the corridor, has been selected as the operating mode for the room from the key switch. In this case, the room functions as an isolation roo
Use and operation of the RPCI panel
- The display indicates the pressure in the room in Pascals compared to the reference state. The text “door” indicates an open door. Close the door!
- A high alarm warns of room pressure exceeding the set value. If the alarm light does not go out, contact a service person.
- When the Normal mode light is on continuously, the room pressure is desired. The flashing normal light indicates that the room pressure is desired, but the control damper is at the extreme limit of its operating range (inform the staff).
- A low alarm warns of room pressure below the set value. If the alarm light does not go out, contact a service person.
- The controller setting parameters are changed using the arrow switches (up and down). The maintenance person can access the programming mode by pressing these and the alarm acknowledgment switches at the same time.
- The buzzer can be turned off with the Alarm Acknowledgment switch.
